Our First Anniversary

Dear Loveagain,

We just celebrated our first anniversary on Sunday. As I’m looking back on my journey at Loveagain, it was a year of realignment. God has moved a lot slower than I wanted; He removed the things I was convinced were essential.

From day one, I was ready to unpack every bit of myself to build. Basically, I was standing at the construction site with my hard hat on, sleeves rolled up, ready to start swinging the hammer. But God was still at the table refining the blueprint.

One of the clearest ways He did that was through His Word. In all my years of pastoral ministry, I’ve never spent this much time preparing sermons and wrestling with Scripture. And slowly, I began to see the same hunger growing in our church. People wanted to go deeper and understand the Scripture for themselves. Eventually, we reached a point where I didn’t even have to initiate to start a Bible study; the desire was already coming from within.

Our first year’s slogan was “Going deeper before going wider.” And without really realizing it at first, that is exactly what God was doing at Loveagain; He was redirecting and realigning what matters the most for a newborn church. Instead of building more, He was teaching us to lay a firm foundation.

Loveagain, looking back, there are God's fingerprints everywhere. At the same time, looking ahead, there is still so much unfinished work before us.

Zechariah 4:9 says:
“Zerubbabel’s hands have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will complete it. Then you will know that the Lord of Armies has sent me to you.”

God’s past faithfulness gives us evidence, while His unfinished work still requires faith.

As we enter year two, we may not know how everything will unfold, but we can walk with confidence knowing that He is holding our future.
